What in the Actual ...?!

Speaking with a friend a while back, “We are supposed to be nonpartisan.” I was reminded by him. I nodded, “Yes.” Then I’d explained October 7th to him, as he’d requested.

Among all of this, this year I’ve decided to disconnect from people who have been so privileged as to say either they were an independent, which they aren’t. Or that they didn’t vote republican in 2024 because they have a daughter who’s come of age. Yet they voted for this vile POS in our white house two times prior. Because they state they hadn’t known his past. Yet they read books; however, they read only fiction mostly because they fear their own panic attacks. Really? I have a middle finger I haven’t used in a while. Oh, but they attend church regularly, so that makes their white lives just ducky.

Then I’d had a man I’d known nearly thirty years tell me they were a libertarian, but yet liberal in their thinking. How in the absolute Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction does that work? I did refrain from giving any of my attituded opining to him, a converted Catholic to a Buddhist, decades now.

I had a man, who’d been a friend for over thirty years say to me in September 2025, the reason why he voted for the now criminal in our white house was because he felt that “…Harris was dumb as a rock.”  That won me over like a tidal wave of manure. What in the misogynistic, racist hell have I unearthed to make a man I’d thought I’d known to backfire into the opposite interplanetary ejection of kindness and equality. By the way, that man admittedly is an atheist. So, there’s that.

So, before our summer solstice in New Jersey officially began, I decided to cut off thirteen people who’d been in my life, some for decades now. There were multiple reasons. Those are just some examples of perhaps why. When I’d heard that some mother was sick with upset-ness because her son did a racist thing. I then texted to a neighbor the other day, “Good.” When another parent, a father did something threatening to the very family his son harassed, because he was afraid that his son’s activity was a hate crime. The father to cover up his son’s crime, the father tried to make it harder on the already harassed family in town by telling police that the harassed people threatened them. Firstly, that’s a lie. I know people and I know those people that were harassed. So, No. You lying sack… of … well you know. That parent knew damn well what his kid did and instead of grounding the kid, went after the very people his kid had harassed. Seriously? And that is why we need to hopefully save our Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction country from closeted bigots, racists, and misogynists.

We need to save our country from all those people who either hold such animosity against people who are different, or who don’t care, or who are so provincial with their white asses scraping the ground as if they were still living in 40,000 B.C.—that as they may have had the privilege of visiting another country or two and gained a four year degree with no outstanding loans—they have no clue, how fortunate they are as to how white they are, where they’ve lived and how they’d lived to be able to not watch the news, or to watch only one channel because it tells them what they want to hear. Or to read their religious books and none other, because everything is too shocking. Get a grip. You’re an adult. Get some therapy. Then come back and tell me all your woes. I will shun you. I will not be compassionate to you. You’ve reaped what you’ve sewn. And if you can’t see it. Then you have been and are way more privileged and selfish than I’d ever known. And now I know to steer clear of you but look over my shoulder as I’d done most of my life. That’s not much of a change for me. But for you, I know that it is.---Jody-Lynn Reicher

2023 Holiday Letter from the Reicher's

Well, I didn't think I'd be doing a Holiday Letter this year, but here goes... The Spirit of Norm is in the air. As the wind whips with minus a true snowstorm.  In hopes the Farmers Almanac was correct, I pray to the snow gods. Rain ensued the month of December thus far. We have nearly tripled the amount of rainfall usual for December in New Jersey. And I've witnessed its treachery. Storms such as these hit us hardest in July. Then remained fairly intense through til about early October.  Our daughters are doing well, Thank God.  Their Dad would be proud of them. Our oldest Sarah, now a Junior at UCLA pursuing her degree in Chemical Engineering. She's digging the whole California scene. Which I thought it was for her. She's had some good traveling on her off times from school. For her March 2023 week off, she drove her and a few friends out to Lake Tahoe and went downhill skiing for a first in nearly 5 years. She had to rent the ski equipment.  Funny enough when ...

I Made a List

I'm uncertain if I actually made a list when I was age seven; however, it went something like this: "Dear God, Please make me as courageous, brave and strong as King David, but without the bad things like adultery. And I want poor people to have money. I think the rich can give it. Amen. Oh, and I'd like a dog, please. Amen again." By the way, after begging my parents since age four for a dog of my own, I received one for Christmas six years later. I'd pray some more. Humbly, bless myself and ask God to please wake me up in the morning with health and if not please take my soul to heaven to be with Him. Yeah, that was me, a baptized Catholic girl, aged seven with a Lutheran father and a Catholic mother. My mother was not keen on the Catholic Church. Four years later, I'd find out why. Why my mom would change churches and get us into the Church of the Nazereen before I was age seven and my brother before age nine. I can say the three of us truly enjoyed the Chu...
