"Not Exactly Don Juan...and The Liberated Woman"

Why I competed against men in ground fighting... I had no choice for the better part of my grappling training.  And in the beginning of my first competition the guys at my level were closer to my 105/106 than the women. To get more "practice" in (started fighting just before age 48, and that type of ground training just before age 47), In competition I grappled men upto 160lbs.  And women upto 180lbs, when I was a novice I competed against women all the way up through expert.   My coach noticed my game improved the more pressure anyone put on me, my form improved almost magically.  The men in the gym who I typically grappled "live" with were over 150lbs, average 168lbs, worked "live" as heavy at 278lbs.  Drilled with men upto 320lbs in training. I'm by no means great.   Coach Phil Dunlap calls me "The Little Engine That Could". It's just about effort and throwing away the EGO. https://www.amazon.com/Not-Exactly-Juan-Liberated-Woman-eboo

Author Bio ...

Follow Jody-Lynn Reicher, who started running in 1976, served in the U.S. Marines in the early 1980's. She went on to become a marathoner setting her sights on Olympic level running. After tragedy struck in 1991, she ended up having spinal fusion surgery which diminished   her goal of Olympic marathon racing. She thus went into ultra-marathon running, changed her career from finance/accounting to provide massage therapy and bodywork for medical purposes. She currently also is ART certified since 1997 as well. She deals primarily with pain patients, and injured athletes in her therapy business.  Jody-Lynn in changing her type of running to accommodate her physical damage then became a Badwater Ultramarathon Veteran, three completions of the original course 2002,2004,2005. She is currently still running, and is also currently working on a revision of her first book "The Endurance Athlete's Guide to Nutrition" originally published June 2006. In 2004 she set

Two Girls Talking and God Listening In...

Great Sunday training run after Saturday August 1996 Crim Ten Mile Race in Flint, Michigan...Kathy, Jody-Lynn, Kim, and Nina.

Two Girls Talking and God Listening in---Springtime

First Coffee Mug Nina Bovio bought for me as a present. I replied "It'll be okay, just keep going.   You are nearly half-way there.   I know you, I've seen you on TV,   I know you are a good caliber runner.   The pendullum will swing your way someday.   So, today just do your best and aim to finish, just for your head, if nothing else, there'll be no shame in it."     Kathy concurred with a sullen look, trying to accept just mere participation in an event that both of us wanted to race in, be in the money and perhaps even win.        I continued, "I'm hurting too, doctors don't know what's wrong with me.   A little over a year ago I was attacked while I was out running. I should have been dead, so I'm thankful.   But on the same note, I'll be damned if someone is going to take away my right to run free. I went out and ran on the same course the next day, and everyone thought I was crazy.   Like I should be scared."

Hopefully this first book will be out mid-summer 2018: Excerpt from "Two Girls Talking and God Listening In", Subtitle, "Springtime": He responds, "Well, I live in Detroit, I'm pretty much retired.   But what I do now to bring in a little extra money in and keep myself busy, is I have a little office in the mall.   I collect aluminum and other types of metal people toss.   Tons of it and I recycle it.   I know that sounds silly, but its mine and I've been collecting metals and now mostly aluminum items for ten years.   I retired only a little over a year ago.   I'm recently divorced.   Which I feel bad about, because I really hurt my kids.   My kids live in Philadelphia, and that is where I'm originally from."           I respond, "Philadelphia, I've run races there. Wow, that's neat!"   I pause, then ask.   "Why do you think you hurt your kids?"        He responds, "Well, the family that they k

Excerpt from, "Reaching God's Perfection...Stories of Gratefulness"

Picture:  Dr. Jim Manning. Jack Crilly and I at the end in front of the Cape May Lighthouse, April 2006. "...Eventually, I convinced the right people to join me on this Run of New Jersey.... They would crew me.  With my husband, Norm Reicher, Dr. Jim Manning, Fran Gregoras, Sally Liang, Phil McCarthy, Jack Crilly, a number of runners from Central Jersey and Jack Crilly's twin seventeen year old daughters, I completed running the 212 mile course in fifty-five hours and forty nine minutes, which included one hour and forty nine minutes of sleep along the way...We raised over $20,000 for The Mary Therese Rose Fund...  The aforementioned crew reached God's perfection by believing in me and giving me a sense of belonging that will not be forgotten...And, I am grateful." https://www.amazon.com/Reaching-Gods-Perfection-Stories-Gratefulness/dp/1503237516

Excerpt from: "Not Exactly Don Juan...and The Liberated Woman"

I noticed that as we began to come crashing down to the ground and I was on my left side, that the following was about to occur:        I would bite where it would inflict pain and I could hold the bite to the right shoulder, albeit aiming for the right ear, or right side of the face, preferably the cheek. Yet, I was missing my intentional aim.    However, I thought fast in mid-air.    I could not believe how quickly my mind calculated precision, and what to do in under one second.                   https://www.amazon.com/Not-Exactly-Juan-Liberated-Woman-ebook/dp/B072HN2GFV

"Therapy on the Run"

As I await the proofs to arrive in the mail of the book, "Therapy on the Run", I continue writing today on my next book, "Two Girls Talking...and God Listening In"  (Subtitle: Springtime),  the book will be dedicated to Fran Gregoras who passed October 2008, a former neighbor, a friend, a loving and caring woman to be honored and admired.      Somehow as I have been blessed with people such as Nina Bovio a strong-willed woman, a friend, and a care-giver to say the least; stories magically unfold...

Phil asked, "Any questions?" I hesitated, "Ummm, uh. Like ummm." Phil, "What is it?" I asked, "What if he has a Louisville Slugger?" Phil sauntered over to the space between the cage and the wall, where the cage ended ...  Phil reaches behind the cage fencing and in space between the cage fencing the wall.  He shakes  his arm in the space.  Out falls what appears to be a gun, some knives, a whiffle bat; then next a Louisville Slugger... https://www.amazon.com/Not-Exactly-Juan-Liberated-Woman-ebook/dp/B072HN2GFV

...All of us slumping, we sighed in tandem.  I then said smiling, "Wild, huh?" Phil asked, "What?" I repeated, "Wild.  She was big." He responded, "She weighed in at 143 pounds." Mark begins to chuckle. I reply, "Yep, and five or so hours later 148 pounds with me in the cage at 104 pounds.  You know what?  I think I actually kicked, and I didn't fall over." Smiling Mark said, "Yeah.  And you actually improved.  You look more like a fighter now." I responded, "Hey, I even checked some kicks." Phil said, "Yep, I counted three or four."  We laughed. Excerpt from: "Priceless in Changsha"

"...we lay our daughter down on the desk, covered with an old receiving blanket.  The doctor was at the head of this old style, wooden, 1960's elementary school desk.  A nanny held down our daughter's chest and arms.  I held our daughter's waist and feet, hoping to somehow, magically take the pain of the needle for her...  The doctor took a Q-Tip handmade from sticks and wrapped in old newspaper.  She pulled it out and dipped it in an ugly-looking, brown jar in the old medicine tray.  Anyone seeing this from where I live would freak out.  But there is no time to." https://www.amazon.com/Priceless-Changsha-Jody-Lynn-Reicher/dp/1542599083
