Doing With Less

Will our Democracy, Rule of Law be saved if we tread lightly? No. Large media outlets in general are giving that sensory dynamic off in their news reporting. And I'm certain we may not survive as a free nation that needs to buckle down on progress of freedom and equality for all. When we lose that ideology as a nation we've lost our freedoms even if we have people in power that look like us.

It appears as if someone took most of the Erin Brocovichs and Bob Woodwards and shut them out of the ability to record, report and/or video the truth; however, there are US citizens who are not reporters now filming and reporting what news media outlets refuse to do completely. When they omit information in their news report, their report becomes an untruth.

The newspaper outlets are reporting hundreds of protestors when there are thousands. They're reporting thousands across our country when there were over 13 million protestors on one day.

If we want the truth givers, like the elected to give us the truth. As well to grow a spine and stand up to #47 and his regime; We the People need to pressure the news media outlets.

One way to do so, is to turn off those channels for their news program reporting times. I would suggest turning off the morning news variety shows as well. I started doing this a while back, I've increased it 90%. I now put my television set on to a children's learning show channel in place of the evening news. I refuse to now hear lieing voices of #47 and his sycophants. One could perhaps put on any sport other than Golf. See what I'm doing? I don't watch golf.

I told a friend recently this. And explained it not only keeps me calmer, yet it forces me to read more outlets and fact check, well everything. I've gotten rid of my subscriptions to a host of news outlets I'd trusted years ago.

I go to outlets and read what others are thinking, some are not reporters. I read and research on Notus, Medium, The Atlantic, Legal Documents, and a few other outlets. I read sections of how the stock market is doing from a variety of reports from time to time three days a week.

I read PubMed, and other government and non-government (UK journals, NE journal of medicine, PT journals, etc...) publications on medicine.

Its one thing to boycott purchasing household items from a particular company, that does work. However, I've gone as far as selective eating. Yes, avoiding certain foods, so I do not put money or I put less money in the hands of stockholders for those companies. I tighten my belt. This may seem like quite a bit to do; however, I reflect back to when I was a child and we didn't have much and not much selection either due to our low-income status. I think most Americans can do this thing called 'Doing with less'.

Try not having prepared foods. Perhaps, thinning out your pantry. Maybe you don't need that 2nd refrigerator. Maybe you should use a $25 indoor rack to dry certain things. Hec, it will help the environment and your utility bill. Why not? What's holding you back?

I bought a smaller coffee maker that turns off in 3 minutes after the coffee is done. By the way, coffee makers use a ton more energy than many appliances. I make my own espresso on the stove with an $8 three part perc. Even when we'd been a family of four with three pets, my husband and I never used the dishwasher that came with our home when we'd purchased the house nearly 30 years ago. I have measured how much water I use during hand washing the dishes daily total not more than 4-6 gallons of water.

Yeah, I threw parties till a decade ago. Big ones 100 people I'd cooked for 26 hours. I'd cook whether for a holiday, birthdays or the like. Few things I'd had made outside my kitchen.

The goal could be for you, is not to live beyond your means. When you do that, you have more time to tune out untruth, more time to self-reflect privately, go for a walk outside and change for the better. 2023 Holiday Letter from the Reicher's

Well, I didn't think I'd be doing a Holiday Letter this year, but here goes... The Spirit of Norm is in the air. As the wind whips with minus a true snowstorm.  In hopes the Farmers Almanac was correct, I pray to the snow gods. Rain ensued the month of December thus far. We have nearly tripled the amount of rainfall usual for December in New Jersey. And I've witnessed its treachery. Storms such as these hit us hardest in July. Then remained fairly intense through til about early October.  Our daughters are doing well, Thank God.  Their Dad would be proud of them. Our oldest Sarah, now a Junior at UCLA pursuing her degree in Chemical Engineering. She's digging the whole California scene. Which I thought it was for her. She's had some good traveling on her off times from school. For her March 2023 week off, she drove her and a few friends out to Lake Tahoe and went downhill skiing for a first in nearly 5 years. She had to rent the ski equipment.  Funny enough when ...

"It’s the Hardest Thing..."

My friend since 1996, neighbor and pet care person texted back, "It's the hardest thing...". She texted back the morning just hours prior to my decision to have our last pet euthanized. It's not something I'd ever done. Although I've been told I have a killer instinct. Which I've discovered over the past 20 years that would be true. A promoter said that to my fight coach after my first cage fight. The promoter saw the charged smile on my face after I'd just lost to a decision. I am disciplined, so thank God for that. My feeling is we all have that, but not the amount I've discovered I have, and most certainly most do not have the obsessive level of discipline I have had or have. Fast forward to yesterday afternoon holding our bunny for quite sometime before her sedation in a veterinary treatment room.  About 20 minutes later the vet and vet tech arrived finding a spot to inject a sedative into our pet bunny. They said it would take ten minutes, th...

June 12th 2025

Finally getting our oldest on the phone. "Mom! Chill! A man faceplanted on the ground. Blood was everywhere. It was so bloody Mom. We helped him."  She continues her hyper mode annoyed I called/texted 6x in one hour when no response was received from them. You know that parenting Mom thingy.  Oldest: "Didn't she tell you? We're doing pictures near sunset." She remarked, annoyed. Me/Mom: "Oh. Wow. Okay. And Thank you for being kind."  That's what I was reduced to. Hours later... Youngest explains now in my hotel room. Me/Mom: "So, what happened?" Youngest: "Mom, I thought he was like praying. He was laying facedown." Me/Mom: "Oh. Did it just happen?" Youngest: "People were passing by. But we didn't see the faceplant. As I approached, I realized he wasn't praying... you know like some religions do at certain times." Me thinking... I guess that ten years in the morning of teaching the kids religi...
