A Moral Decision-Voting

Your vote was a moral decision. Whether we vote or not, it’s a moral decision. How we vote is as well. So, when you vote with a Lasse Faire attitude, that outcome too will be on your soul. It’s not whether you believe in a hereafter. Nor is it whether you are religious, agnostic or an atheist. It’s who you are deep inside, that is what it shows.[1]

If you think you’re entitled to enslave, dehumanize, oppress other people in anyway in the world, citizens of your country, or your own community, think again. You’re not. This is not just in the United States Constitution.[2] It’s also in many religious books, books on philosophy and it is written in our hearts and minds. And to negate that—is the most harm a person can do to not only others, yet it is also harm to oneself. It is pure evil.

As U.S. matured, much bias was fought, marginally knocked down. There are other countries as well as our own citizens who wanted to destroy what we’ve built and were continually building up until 2017.  Yes, we had to work through quite a bit of tribalism. Yet, we were slowly succeeding at creating more of a free and healthier country for all U.S. citizens and people awaiting citizenship.

They damaged this country: Not just those voters led by their noses due to their lack of a desire to read and study or focused on one issue. Some of those same voters wanted to be fed lies, so they didn’t have to think for themselves, even though they think that they do. It’s human to have tribalistic thoughts. It’s quite inhumane to propagate those thoughts with no proof.[3] Too, harming the welfare of others because they think differently is also inhumane. We’ve done enough of that even prior to the Revolutionary War in the U.S., and thereafter.

Who are the others in being complicit in damaging the democracy of the United States of America? Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, C. Everett Koop, Ralph Reed, Franklin Graham, Steve Bannon, our current POTUS, and so many others.[4] Bill O’Reilly is another one. He admitted that the questioning of the birthplace of President Obama was a joke.[5][6] That he and others knew that they were pushing that falsehood about President Obama.[7]

Frank Schaeffer, Jr., admitted it was wrong to steer the people in this country to the far right, and towards his father’s belief systems.[8][9][10]

To quash a dictator, an authoritarian and the like, you don’t go after one person for such admitted falsehoods hurting the country, costing people their jobs, their health and their lives. You legally go after their sycophants, their ‘starters’, every dollar that supported them, you legally it take away. Then you make certain that they are physically imprisoned for treasonous acts against ‘We the People’ of the U.S.

Mikhail Gorbachev had said nearly 40 years ago that the people of the Soviet Union were not ready for Perestroika and Glasnost.[11][12] These two words were part of what Gorbachev wanted for the Russian people back then (1980’s) to end the Era of Stagnation, as he’d declared. That meant incorporating freedom of speech, free trade, more transparency along with more openness into the rights of the Russia people.

The U.S. is not doomed. We want freedoms, all must have them as citizens and people desiring citizenship in these United States. An example of regaining a democratic state after a brief rule of dictatorship would be South Korea.[13][14]

It takes little to destroy a democracy. Perhaps months, weeks, or days. It takes quite a bit more time and effort to build one. Perhaps decades or longer.----Jody-Lynn Reicher

2023 Holiday Letter from the Reicher's

Well, I didn't think I'd be doing a Holiday Letter this year, but here goes... The Spirit of Norm is in the air. As the wind whips with minus a true snowstorm.  In hopes the Farmers Almanac was correct, I pray to the snow gods. Rain ensued the month of December thus far. We have nearly tripled the amount of rainfall usual for December in New Jersey. And I've witnessed its treachery. Storms such as these hit us hardest in July. Then remained fairly intense through til about early October.  Our daughters are doing well, Thank God.  Their Dad would be proud of them. Our oldest Sarah, now a Junior at UCLA pursuing her degree in Chemical Engineering. She's digging the whole California scene. Which I thought it was for her. She's had some good traveling on her off times from school. For her March 2023 week off, she drove her and a few friends out to Lake Tahoe and went downhill skiing for a first in nearly 5 years. She had to rent the ski equipment.  Funny enough when ...

She's Not Exactly Betty White

She? Yes, she is not exactly Betty White. Nibbles is cute and funny, though. She's one of our two bunnies now nearing 100 years old. She at times appears to need a wheeled walker absolutely, with tennis balls. But instead, I've now spotted her, little rugs covering our living room to dining room floors. Not too many of them, for she would think she was close to a litter box and then there'd be a big mess.  Right now, I'm working mostly remotely. This allows for me to check on her four times a day. Too, I've made my office temporarily in our dining room.  And thank God for all that. Because I have to make certain her right leg that can no longer function as part of her hopping mechanics to get around, does not get hung up on the side of the litter box. I have to clean her hay excursions, she cannot always control her hay poops, never mind her bladder. That's where my excessive laundry loads have headed. No big deal. I barely use the dryer. I have a drying rack a...

"It’s the Hardest Thing..."

My friend since 1996, neighbor and pet care person texted back, "It's the hardest thing...". She texted back the morning just hours prior to my decision to have our last pet euthanized. It's not something I'd ever done. Although I've been told I have a killer instinct. Which I've discovered over the past 20 years that would be true. A promoter said that to my fight coach after my first cage fight. The promoter saw the charged smile on my face after I'd just lost to a decision. I am disciplined, so thank God for that. My feeling is we all have that, but not the amount I've discovered I have, and most certainly most do not have the obsessive level of discipline I have had or have. Fast forward to yesterday afternoon holding our bunny for quite sometime before her sedation in a veterinary treatment room.  About 20 minutes later the vet and vet tech arrived finding a spot to inject a sedative into our pet bunny. They said it would take ten minutes, th...
